Sree Krishna Swamy Temple is more than 5000 years old, situated at Edavetty near Thodupuzha in the Idukki district of Kerala, India. Lord Krishna at Edavetty, presides in the form of DHANVANTARI. In the Hindu epic of Mahabharata, Nakula was the fourth sibling of the five Pandava brothers.
Nakula and Sahadeva were twins born to Madri, who had invoked the Ashwini Deva. Both Nakula and Sahadeva are called Ashvineya, as they were born by the blessings of Ashvinas. Nakula with the blessings of Ashwini Deva built this temple when Pandavas were in exile (Vanavaasa).
5000 വർഷത്തിലേറെ പഴക്കമുള്ള ശ്രീകൃഷ്ണ സ്വാമി ക്ഷേത്രം, ഇന്ത്യയിലെ കേരളത്തിലെ ഇടുക്കി ജില്ലയിൽ തൊടുപുഴയ്ക്കടുത്തുള്ള ഇടവെട്ടിയിൽ സ്ഥിതി ചെയ്യുന്നു. ഇടവെട്ടിയിൽ ശ്രീകൃഷ്ണൻ ധന്വന്തരിയുടെ രൂപത്തിൽ അധിപനായി. ഹൈന്ദവ ഇതിഹാസമായ മഹാഭാരതത്തിൽ, അഞ്ച് പാണ്ഡവ സഹോദരന്മാരുടെ നാലാമത്തെ സഹോദരനായിരുന്നു നകുലൻ. അശ്വിനിദേവനെ ആവാഹിച്ച മാദ്രിയിൽ ജനിച്ച ഇരട്ടക്കുട്ടികളായിരുന്നു നകുലനും സഹദേവനും.
നകുലനെയും സഹദേവനെയും അശ്വിനകളുടെ അനുഗ്രഹത്താൽ ജനിച്ചതിനാൽ അശ്വിനി എന്ന് വിളിക്കുന്നു. പാണ്ഡവർ വനവാസത്തിലായിരുന്നപ്പോൾ (വനവാസ) അശ്വിനിദേവൻ്റെ അനുഗ്രഹത്തോടെ നകുലൻ ഈ ക്ഷേത്രം നിർമ്മിച്ചു. അശ്വിനി ദേവൻ ദൈവങ്ങളുടെ ഡോക്ടർമാരും ആയുർവേദത്തിലെ ആചാര്യന്മാരുമാണെന്ന് വിശ്വസിക്കപ്പെടുന്നു.
The annual festival is hosted in the Malayalam month of Meenam (March/April). Utsav Bali, a sacred ceremony is conducted on the ninth day of festivities accompanied by the presence of thousands of devotees. This temple also have one of the earliest and largest Kalyana Mandapam or wedding hall in central Travancore region named as Krishna Theertham.
മലയാള മാസമായ മീനത്തിലാണ് (മാർച്ച്/ഏപ്രിൽ) വാർഷിക ഉത്സവം നടക്കുന്നത്. ഉത്സവത്തിൻ്റെ ഒമ്പതാം ദിവസം ആയിരക്കണക്കിന് ഭക്തജനങ്ങളുടെ സാന്നിധ്യത്തോടുകൂടിയ ഒരു പവിത്രമായ ചടങ്ങാണ് ഉത്സവ് ബലി. മദ്ധ്യ തിരുവിതാംകൂർ മേഖലയിലെ ഏറ്റവും പഴയതും വലുതുമായ കല്യാണ മണ്ഡപം അല്ലെങ്കിൽ കല്യാണമണ്ഡപം കൃഷ്ണ തീർത്ഥം എന്ന പേരിലും ഈ ക്ഷേത്രത്തിലുണ്ട്
